The 46th Annual Service of Remembrance for the USCGC Blackthorn is a deeply meaningful tradition in Tampa Bay, bringing together Coast Guard members, families, maritime leaders, and community partners to honor the 23 U.S. Coast Guardsmen lost on January 28, 1980.

The ceremony serves as a powerful reminder of the risks faced by those who serve at sea and the enduring bond within the maritime community. Through moments of reflection, remembrance, and tribute, attendees honor not only the lives lost aboard the Blackthorn, but also the legacy of service, courage, and sacrifice that continues to define the U.S. Coast Guard.

During this year’s service, Port Manatee Propeller Club President Abby Lindecamp and Vice President Matthew Nesselroad presented a wreath in solemn tribute—standing in solidarity with the families and honoring the memory of those who will never be forgotten.
